How do you know there is not a wee bit of a hoax going on here?Exactly my point ! Was it not just a couple of years ago that someone had made a claim that another box of bones was the bones of John the Baptist ? And then shortly there after it was proven with carbon dating that the inscription was fake and that someone had done so just to stir up attention ?
I hadn't even thought of this when I was thinking of hoax. I was thinking alone the lines of the Shroud of Turin. So many people were so certain it belonged to him, but so much carbon dating has been done that it just doesn't look like it's even remotely possible. So, I hope that people (magadalenefan maybe?) just looks at it all with a skeptical eye.
